Podcasting: What to do while recording

Here are some common sense tips. While recording a session or guest interview with a digital recorder or microphone, use these tips:
  1. Avoid jarring or bumping the digital recorder or equipment while in use
  2. Hold the recorder or microphone about a hand's length from the subject (podcaster)
  3. Start the recording a few seconds before the interview begins, and continue recording a few seconds after it ends. This makes editing easier as the extra time can be trimmed off.
  4. Have the subject introduce themselves on the recording, and spell out their name.
  5. Remind the guest to speak clearly and articulate their words.
  6. Record a separate segment for each subject. Separate file are easier to edit later.
  7. Take a picture of the subject if you would like to include one with the podcast.
