Podcasting: Tips before you record

Take some time to become familiar with the computer software, or the portable digital recorder, you will be using. Make some practice recordings until you no longer have to think intensely about what your are doing, or fumble around looking for buttons and switches.

• Reduce all the background noise that you can (situate yourself near a curtain or acoustically absorbant surface if possible)
• If you are recording a public event or lecture, set up the microphone on, or position the recorder near the podium. If that's not possible, sit as closely to the speaker as possible and use the proper microphone. Examples of microphone types: ________, __________, and ___________.
• If you will be recording an interview, prepare your questions ahead of time so the conversation will gosmoothly. Again choose the right type of microphone.� Decide on the purpose of your podcast and direct your interview accordingly
